Welcome

In January 2024, the Talking Threads artist collective spent time working on residency at Cill Rialaig, in Ballinskelligs where they created new work, including on-site responses to the ruined Waterville Beach Hotel. The Dublin-based visual artist collective is made up of Hannah-Clare de Gordun, Hazel Mallon, Samantha Mc Caffrey, Fiona Harrington and Lucy Peters.

This paper collage has been made using found material from the cottage at Cill Rialaig and elsewhere. It is a study of my daughter wrapped in a knitted wool blanket made by a relative. The piece is layered with tiny pieces of various white, cream and silver card. Each piece of card represents stitches and knots created by the hand to make something comforting.
